Fine points

The Greek alphabet and names

We spell Greek names as in the holder’s passport, in Cyrillic and Latin script. Greek documents use their own alphabet, and one name can be rendered in Latin script in several ways. The passport settles the question.

If you already have documents where your name is spelled differently, send them along with the new one. That shows us which spelling you use.

Certification

Which certification a Greek translation needs

For Belarus, notarisation; for Greece and Cyprus, usually a sworn translation. The final word belongs to the authority you are submitting to.

  • In Belarus

A notarised translation into Russian. Our translators are on the Belarusian notarial register of translators. More on notarisation

  • In Greece or Cyprus

For documents submitted in Europe, a sworn translation is usually requested; a notarised one is often not accepted there. Check the requirements with the authority. More on sworn translation

  • Apostille

If a Belarusian document needs an apostille, we will obtain it under a power of attorney for our staff member. The original is required. Translation and apostille
